Lynne to Jitendra: "Are zebra crossings for real zebras?"
Jitendra: "Uh, no. That's what we call the black and white cross walk area."
HILARIOUS!
Driving here is chaotic. No lanes, constant honking, people walking in the street instead of the sidewalk. Ironically the name of the driving school here is Good Luck Driving School.
Visited Elephanta Caves. It was a 45-minute boat road to and from and then a completely vertical climb up stone steps that felt like they went for miles. And it was steaming hot. But so worth it. It looked like something that would be in an Indiana Jones movie.
At the Gateway to India monument a man and his 8-year-old daughter asked me to have my picture taken with the girl. I felt like a celebrity with the little girl in the yellow sari. There are perks to being a big, white, sweaty American. We're definitely in the minority. I can count on one hand the Caucasians we've seen so far.
For lunch we had authentic Indian food. Most I'd had before at the Korma Sutra in Overland Park, but the mutton kabob and fried spicy cottage cheese were new.
We saw cows and monkeys today. Cows are sacred here so no one can harm them (in fact they touch them for blessings). They come up and beg for food. See pic below with Lynne and Sabina.
Have to pack tonight as we head to the Mumbai office for video interviews tomorrow and leave for Pune in the afternoon. Did I mention my suitcase isn't working right? The pulley thingie got dented somehow and now won't extend. Gonna see if we can get it fixed while we're in Pune.
